Sonomic Announces First European Total Library Server Sale

Fusion Chooses Sonomic for Sound Library Management

AES Europe, Munich, Germany – May 9, 2002–Sonomic (www.sonomic.com), the premier provider of sound library management solutions, announced its entrance into the European market with the sale of its flagship Total Library Server system to Fusion, a high-profile London post-production facility. Designed for post and broadcast facilities, the Total Library Server enables editors and engineers to instantly locate and import any sound in their sound FX collection directly into their DAW.

With the Total Library Server, a studio’s sound FX collection is digitized, categorized and indexed onto an ultra-fast computer server. Each engineer uses the Sonomic Sound Engine ™ to search the server directly from their DAW and imports the selected sounds right into their session. If the server doesn’t have a sound that matches the search criteria, it will automatically query and download matching sounds from the Sonomic Online Library. Currently 200,000 sounds and growing daily, the Sonomic Online Library features the entire sound FX collections of Sound Ideas, Valentino, Zero-G, Clack, and many more.

The Sonomic Total Library Server makes hundreds of thousands of sounds immediately available, so engineers always have instant access to exactly what they need. With the Total Library Server, the days of searching manually through stacks of CD and then tediously importing and editing are over. Searches that used take hours are now done in seconds.

Steve Cookman, Fusion’s Director of Audio commented,"At Fusion our goal is to provide a highly efficient creative environment for our clients and staff. We work on a variety of television programme genres, from sound design and mixing on a documentary to creating complex soundscapes for BBC dramas. For all our jobs the fundamentals are the same: fast access to the right sound.Whether that sound comes from our own server or from across the Atlantic, Sonomic delivers.”

"Fusion is committed to leveraging the best technologies available to enhance the creative experience for our clients, so the Sonomic Total Library Server was a perfect fit. It’s simply the most advanced sound management system available.” adds Cookman. "Our staff and our clients alike will benefit from having a world of sound instantly available.”

In the US, the Total Library Server (www.sonomic.com/server) has been installed in post-production and broadcast facilities, including CBS Television, Broadway Video and Hothead. The sale to Fusion represents the beginning of Sonomic’s focus towards European markets.

"We are proud to have Fusion on board.” said Adam Strauss, CEO of Sonomic. "Over the past few months we’ve seen a steadily growing demand for sound library management solutions in Europe, and we expect many more leading European studios to sign on in the coming months.”
