Sonomic Debuts Total Library Server with Sales to Top Broadcast and Post Studios
CBS Television, Broadway Sound, and HotHead Choose the Sonomic Total Library Server
Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV - April 8, 2002 - Sonomic (www.sonomic.com), the premier provider of sound library management solutions, announced today at the NAB show its new Total Library Server with sales to several high-profile facilities. Sonomic’s flagship sound management product, the Total Library Server has been installed at CBS Television, Broadway Sound, and Hothead, all prominent New York City studios. Designed for post production and broadcast facilities, the Total Library Server enables editors and engineers to instantly locate and import any sound in their sound FX collection directly into their DAW.
With the Total Library Server, a studio’s sound FX collection is digitized, categorized and indexed onto an ultra-fast computer server. Each engineer searches the server directly from their DAW and imports the selected sounds right into their session. If the server doesn’t have a sound that matches the search criteria, it will automatically query and download matching sounds from the Sonomic Online Library. Currently 200,000 sounds and growing daily, the Sonomic Online Library features the entire sound FX collections of Sound Ideas, Valentino, Zero-G, Clack, and many more.
The Sonomic Total Library Server makes hundreds of thousands of sounds immediately available, so engineers always have instant access to exactly what they need. With the Total Library Server, the days of searching manually through stacks of CD and tedious importing and editing are over. Searches that used take hours are now done in seconds.
“The CBS post department does a lot of time-sensitive work on news and sports programming, so having the right effect right now is critical,” say CBS Audio Post Technical Supervisor Dan Perino. "The Total Library Server lets us find exactly what we need instantly."
Laki Fotopoulos, Co-Owner and Engineer at Hothead, concurs. “We installed the Total Library Server less than a month ago, and the system has already paid for itself. Our engineers are turning around projects faster and at the same time generating more billable hours by not having to waste preproduction time pulling effects. We also save money on CD libraries, since we can get one or two sounds from the Online Library when we need them, rather than purchasing an entire CD collection.”
"With Sonomic, the perfect sound is always at my fingertips, so I can spend my time creating instead of searching for effects. We looked at other sound effects servers and software, and nothing else came close to Sonomic," says Ralph Kelsey, Vice President of Operations for Broadway Sound, a division of Lorne Michael's legendary Broadway Video production company. "The search engine is faster, more powerful, and more intuitive than anything else I've seen."
“Having a media powerhouse like CBS choose the Total Library Server is a powerful validation,” says Sonomic CEO Adam Strauss. “Hothead is equally important, since it shows that the Total Library Server is a great investment even for independent post facilities. I’m confident that in the coming months dozens of leading studios will choose to save time and money by installing the Sonomic Total Library Server.”
